Scrapping Everything!

Right after completing that last update video, I got back into developing the game and realised that a lot of it felt janky. The reason for that was due to me developing a first-person platforming system before even knowing that the core mechanic would be the grappling hook.

Trying to retro-fit the physics-based grappling mechanics into my platforming system lead to patched solutions which didn’t feel very stable.

Now that I know what mechanics we’re building for the game, I decided to scrap it all and re-build with modularity and scalability in mind.

Thanks to this, I was able to implement several new grappling mechanics and they all feel really good and flow together very well!

I’ve also started designing the hub world!

As stated in the latest devlog, the hub is the inside of the tower. I want to make it really fun to swing around in there, with lots of different paths and areas to explore, as well as little secrets hidden here and there.

It’s mostly sketches right now and a very basic, empty structure in-game at the moment, so I’ll post some screenshots once I have more of it figured out in the next update.
